Their primary material is white pine, and every board of wood is carefully selected to show off its natural beauty and grain. In designing and building their wooden toys, safety, simplicity, and durability are the company's main considerations. We have chosen several of their unfinished wooden toys for our collection--only their sailboat has a finish applied to it so it may be used in water--thus reducing concern about toxic substances going into your child's mouth.
The "MAINE MADE - AMERICA’S BEST" label is affixed to all of their toys. It signifies that Different Drummer Workshop's products have been juried into this State sponsored program, reflecting the time honored tradition of skilled craftsmanship for which Maine has long been known.
